"Paws" to Stop and Donate with All Safe Technologies!
The Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) is the largest animal welfare organization in the state of Mississippi and cares for thousands of animals each year. Since 1952, HSSM has been committed to ending pet overpopulation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. HSSM is an open-admissions shelter and turns no pet away based on health, age, or behavioral status. Last year, HSSM reached a milestone achievement of a 96% save rate. The national percentage for a "No Kill" shelter status is 90%, which is what HSSM had been working towards since incorporation. That is truly something to celebrate!
So how can you get involved and help? Starting Monday, February 22nd, and running through March 22nd, you can drop off your donation between the hours of 8am-5pm at our office located at 2620 25th Avenue in Gulfport. Your donation not only helps to restock the Humane Society's depleted supply and food pantry, but you will also be registered to win one of many prizes such as Texas Roadhouse Gift Cards, Texas Roadhouse Free Appetizer Coupons, or $50 off Coupons for installation for new or existing customers! Currently, their biggest needs are the following items:
1. Wet pate style dog and cat food
2. Any type/brand of dry dog and cat food
3. Blankets/towels
4. Dog and cat toys and treats
5. Milkbones of all sizes, and soft treats older residents that may not have strong teeth
6. Creamy peanut butter, velveeta cheese, and cheerios to stuff the dogs' kongs.
